A Blue Card is a mandatory license issued by the Private Detectives and for armed security guards in Georgia. It verifies that you meet all state requirements to carry a weapon while working as a security professional.
Per GA Code § 43-38-10(c) (2024) All licensees and registrants under this chapter shall be required to obtain from the board a weapons permit (blue card license) under this Code section if a firearm is carried, or is to be carried, by such licensee or registrant while at or en route directly to and from his post or place of employment
It’s 2025 and all blue card licenses expire per Rule 295-2-.02(b). Licenses Expiring August 31-Odd Years
The following licenses expire on August 31 of the odd numbered years, effective as of the 2021 renewal cycle:
(b) Private Detective and Security Agencies (Employees and Weapons Permits); with a lapsed, late renewal period from September 1 to September 30 of odd years;
2025 is an odd year renewal season, you can expect 30 – 90+ days for state processing which is why we encourage you to start now. We ensure there are no delays so you receive your card as quickly as possible.
ATL Blue Card is not a training academy or security agency. ABC specializes in helping security professionals obtain blue card armed guard licenses.
